Damn you Everton!

Everton let me down big-time last week by only drawing at home to Wolves, that would have been all bets in last week! This week I'll be doing Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham all to win as they're all playing fairly poor opposition in the form of West Brom, West Ham, Stoke and the awful Wigan. Bet Fred are offering 11/10 but if you don't have an account you can get even money with Paddy Power and Stan James.

Odds: 11/10 (Bet Fred)
Stake: 20
Returns: 20

This bet will be the same as the one above except that we'll be changing it a little so that we have Man Utd -1 and Chelsea -1. Chelsea have scored 12 in their first 2 games and Stoke are not a good travelling team so I'd expect Chelsea to win by at least a couple of goals here. West Ham have also started the season poorly conceding 3 goals in each of their first 2 games. I can't see this trend stopping away at Old Trafford. Just over 2/1 at ToteSport but I'm not sure if this is the best price as most bookies only have -2 handicaps up so you'll have to check your accounts individually.

Odds: 2/1 (ToteSport)
Stake: 10
Returns: 20

The "extra-dangerous" bet last week nearly came in at 11/1 last weekend! This weekend's danger bet is no exception to the dangerousness (if that's a word) of last weeks. Again it will be the same teams as above but this time we'll be taking Tottenham -1, Chelsea -2, and Man Utd -2. This is even worse than last weeks bet but Wigan are complete $h*t while Chelsea and Man Utd should have no trouble demolishing Stoke and West Ham.

Odds: 7/1 (Paddy Power)
Stake: 2
Returns: 14 points

Damn you Blackpool!

Probably should have posted this yesterday at least because you only have about 7 hours to get this bet on but I think it's a good one. Europa League proper starts tonight with the first knockout round and there are a few dead certs playing tonight and since this is the safe bet for the week I'll be going with a treble of Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund to all win their games tonight with relative ease since all are at home to Trabzonspor, Tavria and FK Karabakh (The last 2 I've never heard of?) . Fairly good odds considering all should win fairly easily. Bayer kick off at 5.30pm GMT if you want to get your bet on. (Win)

Odds: 8/11 (Boyle Sports, Tote Sport)
Stake: 33
Returns: 24

Haven't been doing too well on these bets so far this year (*cough* Blackpool *cough*) so I'm going to try to be even more cautious this week! I'll be going with another treble of Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal -1. Chelsea are away to, arguably the worst team in the league after last weeks performance, Wigan while Everton are at home to Wolves in what should be home victory for the Toffees (and at pretty decent odds too). Arsenal will be at home to the mighty Blackpool. I know they ruined my bet last week but surely they can't hold Arsenal to a 1 goal win, can they? (Lose)

Odds: 7/4 (BlueSQ and 888sport)
Stake: 12
Returns: 21

The danger bet is going extra dangerous this weekend. It's the same teams as above but we'll be pushing the boat out to Chelsea -2, Arsenal -2 and Everton! I know it probably looks like a stupid bet (probably!) but Wigan let 4 goals past them at home to Blackpool last week and Chelsea are one of the most free scoring teams in the league. Arsenal are similar to Chelsea in the fact that against poorer opposition they can destroy them and I think Blackpool will come crashing back to earth this Saturday! (Lose)

Odds: 11/1 (Paddy Power)
Stake: 2
Returns: 22 points

That was a long wait....

Well, it was a long wait but at long last the English Premier League is back on. All I need now is the NFL back in a couple of weeks and we can start making some real cash! Safe bet for the week has to be the top 2 from last season beating 2 of the promoted teams. Chelsea and Man Utd should have relatively little trouble in putting away West Brom and Newcastle. If you want to get a little more value I'd recommend putting Chelsea -1 which will get you. Newcastle will probably be a bit more of a test knowing the history between Newcastle and Man Utd. (Win)

Odds: 4/9 (Bet 365, Victor Chandler, Paddy Power)
Stake: 45
Returns: 20

For a little more reward to the bet above you might want to add in Wigan to beat new boys Blackpool. Everyone is expecting these guys to be the whipping boys this season as they weren't expected to get promoted and they have done relatively little to strengthen their squad up to now. Some promoted teams can be a surprise when they get into the premier league however! (Fail)
Odds: 7/4 (Bet365, Victor Chandler)
Stake: 12
Returns: 21

Liverpool play Arsenal on Sunday afternoon which is undoubtedly the match of the weekend. Liverpool are experiencing a period of resurgence since last season but I think this could be a bit of a false dawn for the Anfield faithful. I think Arsenal could take all 3 points in this match and at 2/1 I can't say no to that. If you want to be a bit safer you could take the "draw no bet" option at 11/10. (Fail)

Odds: 2/1 (Coral, Paddy Power)

It just has to be Cork or Dublin...... hasn't it!

The All-Ireland Football Quarter Finals were a huge win for the bookies last week with both Kerry and Tyrone both losing and now surely Cork or Dublin will take the Championship. With both still over even money there is a chance to back both of them and guarantee yourself a bit of profit. Like most bets of this nature you'll need to lay out quite a bit of cash if you want some good returns but this is nearly a dead cert in my opinion. I would prefer if they weren't playing each other in the Semi-Finals but the prices probably wouldn't be as good if they were.

Odds: Cork 11/8 (Victor Chandler), Dublin 13/5 (Boylesports)
Stake: Cork - 80 points, Dublin - 50 points
Returns: Cork win - 60 points, Dublin win - 50 points

Like last week I'll be sticking with the Europa League qualifiers again because there is really not much else on at the moment. I'd be going with both Juventus -1 and Liverpool -1 who are both at home to inferior opposition in Shamrock Rovers and Rabotnicki. Juventus made light work of Rovers last week in Dublin winning me a few bob as they led at both HT and FT to bring in my safe bet last week @ 5/6. Liverpool had an easy time of it away to Rabotnicki an won by the same scoreline as Juventus, 2-0. (Fail)

Odds: 5/6 (bwin.com)
Stake: 12 points
Returns: 10 points

Not really much of a danger bet this week but since I'm betting on golf I'm going to call it a danger bet! The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational kicks off tomorrow - 4th August - and Ladbrokes and Bet365 are giving odds of 7/4 for Lee Westwood to be the top Englishman of the tournament. Westwood has been playing very well over the last couple of months and this seems like a fairly sound bet to me. Only going to stick a bit of change on it however as my golf betting record hasn't exactly been on fire in the past! (Fail)

Odds: 7/4 (Ladbrokes and Bet365)
Stake: 4 points
Returns: 7 points

Juventus playing in Tallaght? Easy Money!

I'm a bit light on proper bankers this week but I'll go with some betting against Rovers ability to reach half-time at 0-0 because there is absolutley no chance that they will score a goal..... is there? Pretty decent price considering the 2 teams playing. If you're really adventurous you could put in Cork and Kerry and make it a treble at just over 6/4 with Bet 365, William Hill or Paddy Power. (Win)

Odds: 5/6 (Bet 365 and Paddy Power)
Stake: 12 points
Returns: 10 points

The draw for 2 of the 4 All-Ireland Football Quarter Finals could not be more one sided with Kerry and Cork set to demolish an injury-stricken Derry and over-achievers Roscommon (Don't know how they got this far???). I'm also going to throw in Tyrone to be beat Dublin as it's getting to that time of year where Dublin fall apart. Not just that but Tyrone are coming off a nice break from winning the Ulster Championship while Dublin have gained some false confidence from beating a couple of rubbish teams in the qualifiers. I'm fairly sure they'll get a rude awakening from Tyrone this weekend! (Fail)

Odds: 11/10 (Ladbrokes)
Stake: 10 points
Returns: 11 points

Premier League giants Liverpool will take on unheard of team Rabotnicki on Thursday evening. Liverpool are taking an inexperienced team with them which has been largely unimpressive in their pre-season games so far not winning a game yet and losing their last game. So I might stick a few bob on the double chance bet of Rabotnicki to win or a draw. They probably won't win but I wouldn't be surprised to see a draw. If you do fancy backing them to win you can get 9/1 on them at Boylesports. (Fail)

Odds: 11/4 (Blue Sq or 888Sport) 12/5 (Paddy Power)
Stake: 2 points
Returns: 5.5 points (4.8 points Paddy Power)

Kilkenny still good value to win

nyIf you get on this quickly you can still take Kilkenny at 1/2 (Bet365) to win the Senior Hurling Championship this year. This is excellent value in my opinion considering every other team seems to haven gotten worse since last year! I'd stake my left arm on this one.

Odds: 1/2 (Bet365)
Stake: 100 points (or left arm)
Returns: 50 points

Still waiting for the NFL and the football (soccer) to start up their respective seasons again but I'll take Cork to beat the hell out of Limerick this weekend in the final round of the All-Ireland Football Qualifiers although I'm not too sure on the 4 point spread the bookmakers are offering. Might see what -2 points is, hopefully at least 1/2. You could double this up with Tipperary to beat Galway in the All-Ireland Hurling Quarter Finals at 8/13 if you want. Not as much of a certainty as Cork but the best hurling team apart from Kilkenny is probably Tipperary. (Fail)

Odds: around 6/4 (if you can get 1/2 on Cork-2)
Stake: 5 points
Returns: 7.5 points

Without doubt the best bet of the week has to Louth to take out Dublin at 7/2!!! Louth barely beaten (and undeservedly so) by a team that kicked the crap out of the Dubs a couple of weeks earlier. Might be time to say bye bye to Dublin for another year. All depends on whether or not Dublin turn up or not, it'll be a close game which makes 7/2 far too big to turn down. Will have to have a go on this one. (Fail)

Odds: 7/2 (Bet365 and Victor Chandler)
Stake: 2 points
Returns: 7 points
